Hello Desensitization Visit

A Gentle Introduction No Pressure

A Gentle Hello

A gentle hello, before dental care begins

Some children need a little extra time before they feel ready for a dental appointment — and that’s okay.
Our Hello Visit, also called a desensitization visit, is designed for children who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, sensory-sensitive, shy, or unsure about the dental environment. It gives your child a chance to meet us without pressure.

Dropin/Hello Visit
(Complimentary)

A brief, no-pressure visit for your little one to “meet” our office or play with the light wall. Some children visit once; others like to come a few times. If a team member is available, we’re happy to offer a
quick tour-always at your child’s comfort level.

Happy Exam
(Fee will apply)

A short, hands-on visit where a team member gently introduces dental instruments in a playful, supportive way. It’s a wonderful opportunity to build familiarity and trust before a full checkup.

Who Can Benefit

Designed for every kind of little visitor

A Hello Visit may be helpful for children who…

Are visiting for the first time

Brand new to dental care, and want a gentle introduction before any treatment.

Feel nervous or fearful

Are anxious about dental care and need time to feel safe in the space.

Have had a difficult past experience

Carry a memory from a previous dental visit and need a fresh, supportive start.

Have sensory sensitivities

Are sensitive to lights, sounds, textures, or other parts of a clinical environment.

Need extra time with new people

Warm up slowly with new faces, places, and routines — and that’s perfectly okay.

Thrive on routine and preparation

Benefit from routine, preparation, and predictability before any new experience.

Our Goal

Trust first, always

We believe trust is the foundation of great pediatric dental care. When children feel safe, they are more likely to participate, cooperate, and build positive memories over time.

We never want a child to feel forced or rushed. Instead, we use encouragement, patience, and age-appropriate explanations to help them feel brave.

One visit or several
for some children, one Hello Visit is enough. Others may benefit from multiple short visits before a full appointment.

Progress Looks Different

Every step is real progress

At Redwood Pediatric Dentistry, we celebrate progress — whether that means walking into the office, sitting in the chair, letting us count teeth, or completing a cleaning. Your child is welcome here, exactly as they are.

Walking in

Just making it through the office door is a real victory.

Sitting in the chair

Getting comfortable in the chair, even just for a moment.

Letting us count teeth

Opening up wide so we can take a gentle look.

Completing a cleaning

A full cleaning is wonderful — but never the only goal.
Your child is welcome here, exactly as they are.
