At Redwood Pediatric Dentistry, we provide pediatric restorative dentistry in Oakland, CA to repair damaged teeth, treat cavities, and protect your child’s developing smile. Our board-certified pediatric dentist uses child-focused techniques to restore comfort, function, and confidence while preserving healthy tooth structure whenever possible.
Pediatric restorative dentistry focuses on repairing and protecting children’s teeth affected by cavities, decay, injury, infection, or developmental concerns. Unlike preventive care, which focuses on avoiding dental problems, restorative treatments help rebuild tooth structure and restore normal function after damage has occurred.
Restorative care may include dental fillings, pulpotomies, baby root canals, crowns, space maintainers, and other treatments designed for growing smiles. At Redwood Pediatric Dentistry, we focus on preserving natural teeth whenever possible while creating treatment plans based on your child’s age, comfort level, and oral development.
Dr. Niekia Franklin is a board-certified pediatric dentist dedicated to helping children receive comfortable, personalized restorative dental care. Dr. Franklin believes restorative dentistry should do more than repair teeth. At Redwood Pediatric Dentistry, we understand that restoring a child’s smile requires more than repairing a damaged tooth. Our team combines specialized pediatric training, conservative treatment techniques, and a child-centered approach to provide restorative care that supports comfort, function, and healthy dental development.
Children’s teeth are constantly developing, which requires a specialized approach. Our pediatric-focused care considers tooth growth, behavior, and comfort when planning restorative treatments.
Whenever possible, we focus on preserving healthy tooth structure through careful diagnosis and personalized treatment planning. Our goal is to restore teeth while supporting long-term oral development.
Restorative procedures can feel unfamiliar for children. Our team uses gentle communication and child-friendly techniques to help children feel comfortable throughout their treatment.
Modern technology and evidence-based pediatric techniques allow us to provide accurate diagnosis and effective treatment while focusing on safety, comfort, and predictable results.
Our restorative services are designed to repair damaged teeth, treat dental concerns, and support your child’s developing smile. From fillings and crowns to pulp therapy and space maintainers, Redwood Pediatric Dentistry provides personalized treatments focused on restoring comfort, function, and healthy tooth structure.
Dental fillings help repair cavities by removing damaged tooth structure and restoring the tooth’s strength and function. Our pediatric dental team uses child-friendly techniques to make cavity treatment comfortable while protecting your child’s smile.
A pulpotomy helps treat decay that reaches the inner portion of a baby tooth. This procedure removes affected pulp tissue while preserving the remaining healthy tooth structure and helping maintain normal dental development.
A baby root canal, also called a pulpectomy, may be recommended when infection reaches deeper inside a child’s tooth. This treatment helps remove infection, relieve discomfort, and preserve the tooth until it naturally falls out.
Dental crowns provide full coverage protection for teeth that are too damaged for a traditional filling. Crowns help restore chewing ability, strengthen weakened teeth, and protect them from further damage.
When a baby tooth is lost too early, nearby teeth may shift into the open space. Space maintainers help preserve room for permanent teeth and support proper alignment as your child’s smile develops.
Although preserving teeth is often preferred, extraction may sometimes be needed for severely damaged, infected, or problematic teeth. Our team carefully evaluates each situation to determine the safest option for your child.
Some children may require specialized oral procedures to address dental conditions that cannot be treated with routine care. We provide carefully planned oral surgery services while prioritizing comfort and safety.
Restorative dental care helps repair damaged teeth while protecting your child’s ability to eat, speak, and smile comfortably. By addressing cavities, infections, and tooth damage early, our pediatric dental team helps support healthy development and maintain natural teeth whenever possible.
Restorative treatments help repair damaged teeth so children can continue eating, speaking, and smiling comfortably.
Treating damaged baby teeth can help maintain healthier conditions for permanent teeth developing underneath.
Addressing cavities, infections, and tooth damage early can help reduce the risk of more complex dental concerns.
Every restorative visit at Redwood Pediatric Dentistry begins with understanding your child’s specific dental needs. We evaluate the concern, explain treatment options clearly, and provide gentle care designed around your child’s comfort, development, and overall oral health.
We begin with a detailed examination to understand your child’s dental concern, evaluate the affected tooth, and determine appropriate treatment options.
Our team explains recommended treatments and creates a plan based on your child’s dental needs, development, and comfort level.
Using child-focused techniques, we complete the recommended procedure while prioritizing comfort and preserving healthy tooth structure.
After treatment, we provide guidance on home care, prevention, and future visits to help maintain your child’s restored smile.

This is hands down the best pediatric dentistry in the entire Bay Area. From the moment you walk in, the reception staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. That warmth continues with the dental assistants and Dr. Franklin herself. My children are always so well cared for, but today’s visit truly stood out. When we discovered my young son had cavities, Dr. Franklin immediately sensed our worry. Before even discussing the treatment, she took the time to console my husband and me, reassuring us that this happens often and isn't a reflection of our parenting. Her empathy is unmatched. We are so grateful to have found this practice and cannot recommend them highly enough. If you want the best for your children, look no further. Dr. Franklin + Staff: I wish you all nothing but health, wealth, and success! You guys are WONDERFUL! Thank you, thank you, thank you!![]()

We love Dr. Franklin and her whole staff. My three boys are all patients at Redwood Pediatric Dentistry and I appreciate their suggestions for dental health and how they really connect with my kids. The lots of personal touches like their names on the door, my little one loves the toys and my older kids appreciate that the staff are all very friendly and fun to talk to. They also make scheduling and insurance billing very easy. Highly recommend!![]()

I started taking my now three-year-old here when she first turned one. Dr. Franklin and the team makes the experience so seamless and as fun as comforting for the kiddos, as well, a dentist trip can be :). We’re very grateful to have found this place and we’re excited that our kiddos will be here for a very long time.![]()

My family and I are so happy we came across Dr. Franklin’s office for my 6 yr old son. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. You feel like family when you go and I love that not only is the space specifically curated for kids but all the staff have a talent for working with kids. They know exactly what to do to help the kids feel at ease. When my son had a filling, he was nervous going in but once he got on the chair Dr. Franklin explained everything to him step by step and when we was done he said it wasn’t so bad :) I also love that Dr. Franklin gives you a lot options when your child needs treatment. She is very health conscious and puts that at the forefront of her practice. I wish I had a child dentist like this when I grew up. I would always look forward to going. If you’re looking for a dentist for your child, I highly recommend Dr. Franklin!![]()
